OVERVIEW
The Americus Rugged A/TR is a rugged terrain, all weather tire manufactured for SUVs and light trucks. Americus offers a 50,000 miles treadwear warranty with this model.
The tire improves the rugged terrain performance. The aggressive tread design utilizes the groove placement and the staggered blocks to optimize the off-road traction, while promoting excellent on-road comfort levels. The tread elements allow the tire to improve the forward motion on soft, loose and uneven terrain surfaces. These tread elements, which reach the sidewalls, provide the needed biting edges to optimize the versatile off-road terrain traction at all times. The tread design also keeps the footprint clean by eliminating mud and snow, and ejecting rocks from the footprint. This allows the tire to avoid stone retention from harming the casing by drilling rocks into the footprint. It also prevents mud and snow from blocking the surface contact during its off-road performance.
The better surface contact upgrades the controllability. The constant versatile terrain contact ensures the tire’s forward motion at all times, which improves the steering responsiveness and the driving stability. In other words, the tire is quicker and more precise response to the driver’s commands, while the structure is secured against the driving pressure affecting the tire. The shoulder block pattern optimizes the cornering ability with the use of extra biting edges. The tire’s strengthened internal structure keeps the ideal tire shape under the load and driving pressure. As the tire does not allow the shape to deform, it further upgrades the overall load capacity.
The model also promotes excellent all weather traction. The detailed footprint and the stronger compound elements work together to improve the dry, wet and winter weather traction. Furthermore, the tread is pinned for studs, which can greatly improve the winter weather, ice and snow grip. During the tire’s on-road performance, the ideal groove placement disperses water and slush from the footprint, resisting hydroplaning in the process.
The Rugged A/TR offers a longer lasting usability. The stabilized footprint and the durable compound work together to improve the tread life. The secured stability of the tread elements allows the tire to evenly distribute the driving pressure across the tread area. The equally spread out forces of acceleration, cornering and braking prevent premature and irregular wear formations. On the other hand, the stronger compound elements optimize the rubber flexibility, minimizing the overall treadwear rate. This greatly elongates the model’s service life.
All weather tires receive the three mountain peak and snowflake (3PMS) symbol for their exceptional winter weather performance. They are all season tires with extra winter weather grip, in order to guarantee safer year-round durability. This ensures their true and secure driving ability throughout the year.
Manufacturers recommend changing tires every 10 years. As long as tires are properly stored before they are sold, the year of their manufacture will not shorten their service life.
