Description

Every morning you greet me. Small and white. Clean and bright. You look happy to meet me. Blossom of snow may you bloom and grow. Bloom and grow forever. Edelweiss, Edelweiss, Bless my homeland forever. Dainty white wildflower of the European Alps, tufted blossoms appearing as patches of snow late spring to midsummer. Perennial has become an endangered species in the wild owing to over collection. Edelweiss has silvery foliage with white, star-shaped flowers in June through August. Can be used in rock gardens, as dried flowers, and perennial beds. Plant in full sun, 12 inches apart. Grows to 12 inches high. Hardy in zones 3-9. Proper name: Leontopodium alpinum
